Ademola Lookman’s situation at Atalanta has taken another dramatic turn, with the forward failing to report for training as tensions over his future continue to grow.

The 27-year-old was expected at the club’s Zingonia training centre today as part of pre-season duties but did not appear, according to several reports in Italy. His absence follows an already strained relationship with the club over his desired move to Inter Milan.
Lookman recently took to Instagram with a strongly worded statement, publicly accusing Atalanta of breaking promises and confirming that he has submitted a formal transfer request. He claimed that the club had previously agreed to let him leave this summer — a move he now believes they are trying to block.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi responded to those claims, stating that while there was indeed an understanding to consider offers, the agreement applied to potential moves abroad — not to Serie A rivals like Inter.
This latest development, with Lookman failing to attend training, signals a clear escalation in the dispute. It’s a move that could carry disciplinary consequences and only adds further pressure on the club to make a decision.
Inter Milan are reported to have offered €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons to bring the Nigerian international to San Siro. However, that bid has so far fallen short of Atalanta’s expectations.
Lookman, who played a key role in Atalanta’s successful campaign last season, remains under contract until June 2027. Despite his current stance, the club are under no immediate pressure to sell unless their valuation is met.
Whether Inter can meet that price, or Atalanta soften their position in the coming days, remains to be seen. For now, Lookman’s absence leaves his future hanging in the balance.
