Ethan Nwaneri is set for a new chapter in his young career after Arsenal agreed a loan move that will see the midfielder join Olympique Marseille until the end of the season.
The deal has now been finalised, with Marseille covering the player’s full salary as well as a loan fee of around €4 million. The final cost will depend on how often Nwaneri features during his time in France.

The move follows direct talks between Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. Both clubs discussed the development plan for the teenager, with Arsenal identifying Marseille as the best environment for his next stage of growth.
Nwaneri will gain regular first-team exposure in Ligue 1, an experience Arsenal believe will help accelerate his progress at senior level. The Gunners were keen for the midfielder to test himself in a competitive league while remaining under close monitoring.
Importantly, the agreement does not include any option or obligation to buy. Arsenal remain fully committed to Nwaneri’s long-term future, and he is expected to return to north London when the loan ends in June.
The move represents a clear development pathway rather than a permanent exit, giving Nwaneri valuable minutes, experience, and responsibility at a high level.
For Marseille, the deal adds youthful quality to their squad, while Arsenal see it as a strategic step in shaping one of their most promising talents.
