Arsenal are preparing to move on one of their most high-profile signings, with a £30million price tag set and plans to sanction a January exit despite the player remaining under contract until 2027.

The forward, signed from a Premier League rival in 2022 and once expected to lead Arsenal’s title charge, has struggled to hit the heights anticipated. Injuries and limited output have seen his role reduced, and the arrival of Viktor Gyökeres in the summer has further pushed him down the pecking order.

The player in question is Gabriel Jesus, who joined from Manchester City after winning four Premier League titles and multiple domestic trophies under Pep Guardiola. Despite early promise, his time in North London has been hampered by fitness issues and inconsistent form, returning 26 goals and 20 assists in 96 appearances.

Arteta often opted for Kai Havertz in the central role last season, even when Jesus was available, signalling a shift in strategy before the Brazilian suffered an ACL injury against Manchester United in January. He has recently resumed light training but is not expected to return to full action imminently.

Arsenal are willing to accept £30m — £15m less than the £45m paid in 2022 — and sporting director Andrea Berta is open to offers in January.

Transfer insider Dean Jones has suggested Everton as a potential destination as the Merseyside club weigh up striker options following slow starts from Beto and Thierno Barry. He noted, however, that the player’s wage demands could pose a challenge.

Jones said Everton remain open to adding a forward if their attacking output does not improve before January, using Jesus as an example of someone who could become available. He also referenced Richarlison as another Premier League name whose situation could shift depending on Tottenham’s activity.

Away from possible departures, Arsenal are assessing other transfer options. The club have been offered a promising Paris Saint-Germain talent and hold interest in a Serie A attacking midfielder, though the latter is understood to favour a future move to Real Madrid. Sporting director Andrea Berta is also monitoring an AC Milan star ahead of potential negotiations.
