Boxing star Gervonta Davis has been arrested in Miami on charges including battery, false imprisonment and attempted kidnapping, nearly two weeks after police issued a warrant for his arrest.

Miami Gardens police confirmed that the 31-year-old was taken into custody on Wednesday following a surveillance operation carried out across three counties with support from the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Authorities said Davis was arrested without incident in Miami’s Design District and later booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

The arrest relates to an alleged incident that took place on 27 October last year at a strip club in Miami Gardens. Police say the woman involved had previously been in a relationship with Davis and was working at the venue at the time.

According to investigators, Davis is accused of confronting the woman inside the club, taking her into a back room and assaulting her before restraining her and leading her outside. A police report states that the woman later sought help from colleagues and contacted officers, who documented visible injuries, including bruising to her arm.

The woman told police she met Davis in 2022 and that they were in a relationship for several months in 2025. She said the relationship ended around a month before the alleged incident and that she had stopped communicating with him.

Alongside the police investigation, the woman has filed a civil lawsuit against Davis, raising similar claims. Her legal team said earlier this month that the findings of the police investigation reflected the allegations made in the civil case. Court documents also show attempts were made to serve Davis with the lawsuit, but he could not be located at the time.

Police publicly announced the arrest warrant on 14 January and described the case as a domestic violence matter. Detectives confirmed they were working with federal authorities to locate Davis but declined further comment while the case proceeds through the courts.

Davis, a three-division world champion, had been training in Miami last autumn ahead of a high-profile fight scheduled for November. He was later removed from the event after the lawsuit became public. His most recent fight came in March, when he retained his WBA lightweight title following a controversial draw in New York.

However, the World Boxing Association confirmed over the weekend that Davis has since been stripped of the title, citing both the ongoing legal case and his limited activity in the ring.

The latest arrest adds to a series of legal issues Davis has faced during his career. It is not yet clear how the Florida charges may affect his existing probation in Maryland or his future in boxing. No date has yet been confirmed for his first court appearance in Miami-Dade County.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
