Liverpool’s homegrown star Trent Alexander-Arnold has decided to leave Anfield at the end of the season when his contract expires. After two decades with his boyhood club, the talented right-back is seeking a new challenge, with Real Madrid his likely destination.

Despite Liverpool’s efforts to secure his future—with sporting director Richard Hughes making negotiations a priority—Alexander-Arnold has chosen not to follow teammates Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah in signing new deals. The England international reportedly informed manager Arne Slot of his decision following a final meeting this spring.
Real Madrid had previously attempted to sign Alexander-Arnold in January, but Liverpool rejected their approach. While no deal has been finalised yet, all signs point to the 15-time European champions welcoming him to the Bernabeu next season.
Alexander-Arnold leaves behind an impressive legacy at Liverpool, having recently secured his second Premier League title to complement his Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and two Carabao Cup medals. Since his debut in 2016, he’s made 352 appearances and scored 23 goals.
His departure could provide an opportunity for Conor Bradley to step up as Liverpool’s first-choice right-back, though Slot may also look to strengthen through the transfer market
