Today, the 20th July 2025, marks exactly four years ago to the day that the Milwaukee Bucks won their second ever NBA Championship, and first in exactly half a century, when they took down the Phoenix Suns 105-98 in game six.
So much has changed since then, and in the most part, not for the better. Aside from Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis, there are no players from that triumph remaining on the roster today.

Yet on the 4th February this year, Bucks still had Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez and Pat Connaughton still at the franchise. The departures of the latter two were only confirmed in the past few weeks.
Lest we forget the incredible performance of Giannis in game six, where he put up a phenomenal 50 points, alongside 14 boards. The Greek freak averaged over 35 in his first (and to date only) finals appearance.

Not many players can say they have won a Championship with the franchise that drafted them. It is special to win anywhere, but it means that bit more when it is with the team you have played for your whole NBA career. Giannis even alluded to this himself in his presser after the game six win.
The only other player on the current roster to have won a Championship is Kyle Kuzma, who was part of the Lakers team that were successful in 2020. And well, the less said about him the better, with all due respect.
So, it feels quite poignant that four years after winning the finals, Bucks feel further away than they have done in a long time. Coming off the back of three consecutive round one exits, Bucks fans are in desperate need of some optimism from somewhere, and soon.
