Inter Milan have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign Manuel Akanji on an initial loan deal.

The Italian champions will pay a €2 million loan fee, with an option to buy set at €15 million. That clause is expected to become mandatory in 2026, depending on certain performance-related conditions.
Akanji is due to complete his medical in the coming hours before signing his contract with the Nerazzurri. Once confirmed, Cristian Chivu will have a new addition to his defensive line ahead of the season.
The Swiss international, 29, joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 and played a key role in Pep Guardiola’s squad, helping the club to domestic and European success. His move to Serie A now offers him a new challenge at the heart of Inter’s defence.
