Manchester United could sign Aston Villa man

TRENDING TODAY

As we begin to see deals happening left, right and centre. Transfer talk is dominating football gossip at the moment, both in England, Europe, and elsewhere.

The latest rumour to go up a notch is one linking Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to Manchester United. Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has said United have a made a move for the goalkeeper, and that negotiations are already underway.

As pictured above, it’s ironic how in, potentially his last ever game for Villa, Martinez was sent off against United at Old Trafford, in a game that cost Unai Emery’s side Champions League football. As a result of that, they are in more need of player sales than they would have been.

As it stands, the goalkeeper has four years remaining on his contract at Villa Park, but the club’s issues with PSR has been well documented, and they may be forced to sell one of their key players.

Earlier on this summer, Martinez was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, due to Villa potentially needing to raise funds. When walking off the pitch after their last home game against Spurs in May, the 32-year old looked very emotional when acknowledging the fans.

Since joining from Arsenal in the summer of 2020, the Argentine has been one of Villa’s best and most important players during their most successful era of the 21st century.

However, needs must, and a sale might be key in order for Emery’s side to rebuild the squad and make the reinforcements they believe must be made to move forward.

Should a potential move go through, Martinez would be linking up with compatriot and namesake Lisandro Martinez, as well as fellow international team mate Alejandro Garnacho.
