The Premier League has confirmed the officiating team for Chelsea’s home clash with Liverpool this Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca’s side host the reigning champions as they look to halt a difficult league run. Chelsea are without a win in their last three Premier League outings, having fallen to Manchester United and Brighton in back-to-back defeats.
They did manage to lift spirits slightly with a 1-0 win over Benfica in midweek, but the squad remains stretched. Eight first-team players are unavailable, and Trevoh Chalobah’s suspension means another reshuffle in defence. The Blues will need to find a way to contain attacking threats such as Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak if they want to take anything from the game.
Liverpool arrive in London with problems of their own. They’ve lost their last two matches in all competitions — a 2-1 league defeat to Crystal Palace and a narrow 1-0 loss at Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Maresca dismissed the idea that Liverpool’s dip makes them easier opponents.
“I don’t think it’s better to play Liverpool just because they dropped points in the last two games,” he said. “It’s always a tough game. Always a big team. The way they are playing this season is fantastic.”
