Thomas Partey charged with multiple rapes

TRENDING TODAY

Former Arsenal and Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey, has been charged with five counts of rape, and one count of sexual assault, the Crown Prosecution Service has announced on Friday, the 4th of July 2025.

Two of the counts relate to one woman, three counts relate to a second woman, and the one count of sexual assault relates to a third woman. These incidents are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022.

The Metropolitan Police have said that he is expected to appear at Magistrates Court on on the 5th of August. “The charges follow an investigation by detectives, which commenced in February 2022 after police first received a report of rape” the force went on to say.

As of last week, Partey was still officially an Arsenal player, but left the club upon the expiry of his contract on Tuesday, having failed to agree new terms to extend his five year stay in North London.

Many are already pointing to the coincidental, or perhaps not so, timing of this ruling. There have been reports of this for three years now, dating back to the summer of 2022 – yet he is charged days after his contract ends.

Meanwhile, Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy earlier said:”Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward.”

He continued: “We would ask anyone who has been impacted by this case, or anyone who has information, to speak with our team. You can contact detectives about this investigation by emailing CIT@met.police.uk
