There is something different about this Premier League title race. This is not just because Arsenal and Manchester City are separated by the finest of margins, or because every goal now feels season-defining. But because this race has become emotional. Personal. Tribal.

Every weekend feels like a cup final. Every dropped point sends social media into chaos. Every VAR decision becomes a national debate. And right now, English football is completely split. One side wants Arsenal to finally end the wait and bring the Premier League trophy back to North London for the first time since the Invincibles era. The other side desperately wants Manchester City to do what they have done so many times before. Crush dreams. Stay calm. Win again.

With only a handful of matches left, this title race has become one of the most gripping battles the league has seen in years.

Where the Title Race Stands Right Now

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League table with 79 points, while Manchester City are chasing closely behind on 77 points.

The pressure could not be higher.

Arsenal know that two wins from their final matches would almost certainly crown them champions. Manchester City know they cannot afford a single mistake. The scary part for both teams is that neither side looks ready to blink.

Arsenal have won four of their last five league games and have regained momentum at exactly the right time.  Manchester City, meanwhile, is still doing what Manchester City always does under Pep Guardiola. They keep winning, keep controlling games, and keep chasing relentlessly. Their recent 3 nil win over Crystal Palace showed exactly why they remain dangerous until the very end.

This feels like a heavyweight boxing match entering the final round.

Why Arsenal Believe This Is Finally Their Time

For years, Arsenal were mocked for being “nearly men”.

Too soft.
Too emotional.
Too inexperienced.
Too fragile under pressure.

But this season feels different.

Mikel Arteta’s side has matured enormously. They now play with confidence, control, and belief. More importantly, they have shown resilience during difficult moments.

Earlier in the campaign, many expected Arsenal to collapse after key injuries and difficult fixtures. Instead, they kept responding. The arrival and impact of players like Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze have added fresh energy and attacking power. Arsenal have become less predictable and far more dangerous in big moments.

Defensively, they have also improved massively. Their organisation without the ball has been one of the major reasons they are top of the league. Arteta has built a side that can dominate possession but also suffer when necessary. That balance is what champions usually have. And perhaps most importantly, Arsenal fans genuinely believe now.

The Emirates atmosphere has changed completely. There is tension, yes, but there is also belief that this squad can finally deliver something historic.

Why Manchester City Still Cannot Be Counted Out

The problem for Arsenal is simple. Manchester City do not panic. Pep Guardiola’s side has turned title races into an art form. They have been here too many times before. When other teams feel pressure, City usually go on winning runs. That experience matters enormously at this stage of the season.

Erling Haaland continues to deliver goals, leading the Golden Boot race with 26 league goals this season. Ryan Chekri and Nico O’Riley have stepped up again in crucial moments, while players like Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias understand exactly how to handle the pressure of title run-ins.

Even when City are not at their absolute best, they still find ways to win matches. That is what makes them terrifying opponents in a title race. Pep Guardiola recently admitted he is enjoying the tension of this battle, even though City no longer control their own destiny.

And that mentality says everything. City never stops believing.

Why So Many Rival Fans Do Not Want Arsenal to Win

This is where things become fascinating.

Across England, Arsenal are probably the most discussed club right now. And strangely, the reaction to their success has become extremely emotional. Many rival fans simply do not want Arsenal to win the title.

But why?

Part of it comes from Arsenal’s enormous fanbase. Arsenal supporters are loud, passionate, and incredibly active online. When Arsenal are doing well, social media becomes flooded with debates, banter, and celebrations.

Rival fans find that exhausting.

Another reason is the visibility of Arsenal as a club. When Arsenal compete for trophies, the media attention becomes huge. Every match dominates headlines. Every player becomes part of the national conversation.

That naturally creates resentment.

There is also the perception that Arsenal fans have become increasingly confident after years of criticism. Some rival supporters feel Arsenal fans have started “giving it back” after being mocked for so long.

Football never forgets.

And then there is Manchester City.

Oddly enough, some rival fans would rather see City win again simply because it feels less emotional. City’s dominance has almost become normalised. Another title for Guardiola’s side does not provoke the same reactions anymore.

But Arsenal winning?

That changes conversations everywhere.

It changes narratives.
It changes rivalries.
It changes how the league feels.

That is why emotions are running so high.

The Remaining Fixtures That Could Decide Everything

Arsenal’s remaining games look favourable on paper. They face Burnley and Crystal Palace in the final stretch.  Burnley have already been relegated, but desperate teams can still be dangerous. Arsenal cannot afford complacency. Crystal Palace could also be tricky depending on their European commitments and motivation levels. Palace have shown this season that they can frustrate top sides.

Still, Arsenal will feel these are games they should win.

Manchester City arguably have the tougher run. City still have to face Bournemouth and Aston Villa. That is not easy at all. Bournemouth have been one of the surprise teams this season and continue to cause problems for bigger clubs with their aggressive attacking style. Villa are also capable of hurting anyone on their day, especially if European qualification remains at stake.

This is where Arsenal may hold the advantage.

City’s schedule looks more physically and mentally demanding, especially with the FA Cup final also adding pressure.

So, Who Will Win the Premier League?

Right now, Arsenal look slightly more likely. Not because Manchester City are weaker. But because Arsenal finally appear emotionally ready. For the first time in years, they are not just playing beautiful football. They are surviving ugly moments too.

That is usually the final step before becoming champions.

The numbers also support Arsenal’s position. Several prediction models currently give them a strong chance of finishing top. But nobody should expect this race to end quietly.

One mistake changes everything.

One red card.
One late goal.
One VAR moment.

That is how fine the margins are now.

Manchester City still have the experience, the squad depth, and the mentality to push this all the way to the final day. But if Arsenal hold their nerve, this could finally be the season where Mikel Arteta completes the transformation.

And if that happens, English football discussions will become unbearable for rival fans.

Which, honestly, is probably part of the fun.
