The Georgian Winger is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a significant injury after the French sides clash with La Liga champions Barcelona.
Tuesday night saw to one of the most anticipated games of the Champions League campaign so far, as the Parc des Princes saw the successive title holders take on the Spanish side in what many believe could be a clash between the two potential favorites for the competition itself.
It was a back-and-forth affair between the two sides, with goals from young stars such as Désiré Doue and Lamine Yamal giving the viewers an absolute spectacle. With a winning goal from Fabian Ruiz and a final score of 4-2 in favour of the French Champions, it shows why many expect Luis Enrique to pick up his 4th Champions League medal of his managerial career.
Despite this, PSG have walked away from the fixture with a monumental injury to their star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after he ruptured his ACL during the game as PSG have confirmed.
A key component of the sides front line and coming off from an impressive Champions League campaign last year, the Georgian will be a huge miss for the title holders as it stands, with the club confirming he is ‘set to undergo surgery in the coming days’.
Kvaratskhelia took to social media, thanking fans for their support and promising to come back strong.
The French Side also sustained thigh injuries to both Ousmanne Dembele and their captain Marquinhos, who are expected to ‘remain in treatment over the coming weeks’, calling into question their return date for the upcoming winter fixtures.
These injuries are accompanied by the absence of their star left back Nuno Mendes, who had missed the fixture due to an injury received in the previous game against Strasbourg.
Their next fixture will see them take on Olympique Lyon, with both teams sitting on 14 points and looking to extend their lead over the other in Ligue 1.
